About Us....

     Clark Fork Meats is a small family-owned business nestled in Plains, MT.  The town of Plains is in a valley that was originally called Horse Plains because the Indians would winter their horses here because of the milder climate. The beautiful Clark Fork River flows through the valley. 

     Michael and JoAnn Frey started the business in 2002. We started out with custom processing, including the slaughter and cutting and wrapping, of all domestic animals. We also processed wild game in the fall hunting season. Along with that, we were also doing all the ready to eat product from the smokehouse. 

     Time brings change and as of December 2025 we ceased the slaughter part of our operation. We continue to source quality meats for our retail store and for all our ready to eat products. We also accept clean, boneless wild game any time of the year for grinding or sausage making.

     We've also made the change to USDA inspection which will allow us to sell anywhere in the USA.

We love good food and love for other people to be able to enjoy what we make. We use real , lean meats in all our products. All meat is sourced from the USA.
